Communication for Social Change by Patrick Gossage

New Training: Effective Communication for Social Change

You are a leader in an NGO whose work benefits the community, or are a person deeply committed to community advocacy to enhance social justice. Your clients and colleagues know about the good work you do. But does your larger community, including potential donors and supporters? Do they have a clear idea of your vision, mission, and accomplishments? Does your story move them to action?

To improve your ability to communicate effectively with key audiences, the Institute will now offer small customized working sessions with one of Canada’s veteran media relations and presentation trainers to sharpen your message and its delivery, and to effectively access the many vehicles you can use to get you better known in the community, and achieve the changes and the results you desire.

Offered by

Patrick Gossage, a veteran Communications and political professional will lead the sessions with Olivia Chow. Gossage knows the NGO world through over ten years working with the Toronto social service agency Dixon Hall. He was Pierre Trudeau’s Press Secretary and served in Washington directing PR in the US for Canada. He is now retired from Media Profile, a successful PR agency he founded in 1985.

Gossage has written speeches and done media and presentation training for a who’s who of Canadian business executives, as well as the Prime Minister and several Premiers and Cabinet Ministers. He appears regularly on CBC, CTV, 640 radio and CP24 as a political commentator. He has taught public relations at both Seneca and Humber Colleges. He is currently on the Speakers Bureau of the United Way.
