ICL is hiring a Manager of Operations!

Job summary

Build a strong and dynamic team that strengthens the internal capacity of ICL, expands program depth and reach and builds strong partnerships with clients.

Coordinate grants applications, implementation and reporting. Support the work of ICL’s evaluator and grant writer. 

Support the Training Manager in coordinating the Institute for Change Leaders’ partnerships for training delivery. Builds partnerships and collaborates with community organizations and leaders. Generates new training and contracts through active recruitment. 

Develop the Institute’s capacity by coordinating the existing work that identifies, recruits, trains, hires and coaches the Institute’s students, interns, instructors, facilitators and trainers. 

Work with the ICL team to support the development of new training programs. 

 

Key responsibilities and duties

  1. Oversee financial operations. Coordinating grants applications, implementation and reporting. Support the work of ICL’s evaluator.

 

Manages direct reports 

  • Provide oversight and direction to five employees in accordance with the organization's policies and procedures.

  • Assist Training Manager to recruit, interview, select, and hire placement and CareerBoost students from Toronto Metropolitan University. 

  • Coach, mentor, and develop staff, including overseeing new employee onboarding and providing career development planning and opportunities.

  • Lead employees using a performance management process that provides an overall context and framework to encourage employee contribution and includes goal setting, feedback, and performance development planning.

 

Generates new business through active client recruitment

  • Develops strategy and implements effective tactics to recruit, engage, and mobilize clients around the country who want to take action for a cause.

  • Identifies prospective clients from existing client-base and actively identifies and recruits new clients.

  • In conjunction with the Executive Director and Curriculum Manager, helps design new training opportunities.

  • Develop and monitor a communications strategy to support recruitment 

 

Oversee Trainings programs

  • Improve ICL tracking system to track details, financing  and metrics pertaining to ICL trainings. Ensures briefing and debriefing of all training are of high quality, lessons on improvement learned from training are recorded and embedded in future training, evaluations are tracked, and a report including a memo of appreciation is sent to the relevant organization. 

  • Outreach to external stakeholders in ICL targeted issues area to secure successful training contracts for the Institute.

  • Creates a relationship building plan for instructors, facilitators, volunteers and regularly communicates with the group to continually motivate and engage.

  • Supervises the program coordinators to ensure all logistical details and roles for Institute workshops are clarified, assigned, and prepared in advance. Ensure instructors and facilitators are well trained, engaged in the Institute’s growth, and can demonstrate mastery of core skills in a proven effective community organizing framework.

  • Liaises with Institute stakeholders such as volunteers and other subject matter experts to enhance instructors and facilitators’ skills and run successful workshops.

  • Ensures communications promoting and coordinating registration in the Institute’s workshops reach target audiences, and ensures stakeholders’ information is properly tracked in the Institute’s database after training.

 

Qualifications

Minimum level of education and specialty/discipline required

  • Completion of a post-secondary degree or diploma. 

 

Minimum number of years and type/area of experience required given minimum education requirement

  • A minimum of 4 years’ experience in a management role, preferably at a not-for-profit or charity.

  • A proven track record in leadership, communications and motivation in a socially progressive environment is essential.

  • Experience in a fast-paced, competing deadline environment that involves volunteers and multiple stakeholders is also essential.

  • Knowledge of key political and community and stakeholder networks is important.

Required skills and demonstrated knowledge

  • Demonstrated project management, administration and organizational skills.

  • Proven ability to build, manage and develop key stakeholder and client relationships.

  • Management experience in a team-oriented workplace.

  • Excellent interpersonal and people management skills.

  • Ability to appropriately and sensitively navigate across diverse audiences.

  • Familiarity with Nationbuilder or similar CRM software

  • Go-getter attitude with a diverse skill set, thrives as a proactive, independent problem-solving thinker who is comfortable on their feet. 

  • Demonstrated knowledge of MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.), Google Drive.

Required certifications, designation or licenses to complete the key responsibilities of the position

  • Knowledge of Ganz curriculum is considered an asset.

Virtual and/or in person (to be negotiated)

Salary range

$70,000 to $80,000

Role details

This is a full-time position. Some weekend work is occasionally required.
